[ARCHIVED] Tax Resources

Tax Resources

January 15, 2019 (Helena, MT)—Tax season is upon us and Your Lewis & Clark Library has information and resources to make the process easier.

AARP will again provide tax preparation assistance every Saturday in the Library’s Large Meeting Room from 9AM-1PM beginning February 2nd. For more information on this free service, visit: https://unitedwaylca.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/2018-tax-help-brochure.pdf

There are a few changes that the Montana Department of Revenue would like everyone to be aware of for 2019: To save taxpayer dollars and administer tax law within state budget constraints, the Montana Department of Revenue is no longer able to print income tax booklets.

Montana Department of Revenue is encouraging Montana income taxpayers to E-File for free. Beginning January 16, people can visit revenue.mt.gov to find free e-filing options. New this year, Montana has joined the Free File Alliance, a coordination effort by the IRS, state tax departments like the Montana Department of Revenue, and software vendors. This free electronic filing alternative replaces e-filing through TransAction Portal (TAP) offered in previous years.

If taxpayers prefer filing on paper, Montana Department of Revenue created a new website application called MyRevenue to help users easily find forms to download and print. MyRevenue provides a guided search, keyword search, and a directory of all revenue related forms and instructions. Users can access MyRevenue from the department’s homepage at revenue.mt.gov.

For more information, visit revenue.mt.gov, call (406) 444-6900 or email DORCustomerAssistance@mt.gov.
